So sad. That's my team....I think that span of inept management could kill interest in a team just about anyhere.

i agree with some of the other posters...of all the teams that may move, I hope the Islanders isn't one of them. But on the other hand, if a city with millions of people can't support a team then so be it. Me, Georgie and Kramer can only account for 3 seats per game you know.

FYI:
Tonight is Colorado @ NYI. It'll be interesting once again to see the "announced" attendance, and the number of people actually there.

Bettman will never move a team in the new york market, no matter how bad the attendance. so islanders won't move, devils won't move. phoenix/atlanta/florida might be better options.

But what other options do the Islanders have to stay in New York, besides the next to impossible chance that they could share MSG with the Rangers. Barclay Arena isn't the right set up for hockey. It's like the US Airways Arena, in a sense. While those teams are better options, it a strong possibility that the Islanders could move as well.

No offense to anyone in Winnipeg wanting a return of the NHL, but the Islanders aren't going anywhere. While there is concern over the franchise's arena situation, the team won't be moving anywhere off Long Island even if the Isles do leave Nassau County. Brooklyn and Queens are really the only alternatives if something can't get worked out between owner Charles Wang and the Town Of Hempstead. Suffolk County is mentioned once in a while as well, but Wang has said time and time again that he wants his team to stay in Nassau County.
IMHO, I don't believe the NY Islanders should even be listed here as a team that could relocate. My two cents anyway.

Kronis - I am becoming more confident by the day that we'll be hanging those banners from the MTS center!! I knew it was you spouting your dismal rubbish. Kidding - maybe it'll be the Jets vs NYI for the cup next year? Frezel

There is light at the end of the tunnel now though. And anyway, you keep your grubby hands off my mighty Islanders!!

While I DO beleive that the Islanders' situation is bad, I can't see this team moving anytime soon (which means, in other words, that I do NOT think that this is "the" team). IF they DO somehow get a new building in New York, I can see this team thrive in that market. They've been there for a LONG time, won 4 cups, etc. etc. Also, if this team eventually went for sale, there WILL be interest to own it IN New York. We're not talking about Atlanta or Phoenix here.... this is New York. Someone out there will most likely take a chance at owning them in the Big Apple, and try to get some sort of a new arena built there. But, that said, yes, I agree that the situation is not a good one for the Islanders.

With the news this week that the Isles are likely getting a new $400 mil arena (vote on Aug 1), it all but ends the possibility of the franchise packing up and moving shop after their current lease at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum runs out in 2015.
