I think this idea is a nice gesture to Mark Chipman, David Thomson and everyone at True North. Its one thing to be a fan of your team, but it's taking it to another level to be so proud of our team's ownership group.
And really, after all they've done and accomplished over the past 15 years, there is a lot to be thankful for.

I think during playoff time anyways it should be like the old days... cheering before the teams come out and right through the whole anthem so that the words can't even be heard. It was crazy back then!!!

During the American National anthem, I say at the end when they say " and the home of the BRAVE" we all scream at the end " and the home of the (TEAM NAME) much like the Fighting Sioux do in the states.
Just to remind all the american teams, they are in our country!

The Thrashers fans used to yell "KNIGHTS!" in place of Night in the Star Spangled Banner. And a few Thrasher fans hoped we would keep up that tradition. I think it would be neat if we did. In 15 years our kids would be asking us why we shout out "KNIGHTS" at that point of the USA Anthem and only us grizzled veterans would remember. m.

I'd be on board with the whole building singing the national anthem every night and blowing the roof off the place.

I think anthems should only be played before international games - worn out WWII tradition

i'm with bleedingwhite....i remember the old Jets playoff games...building completely white...and once Van Halen hit the place erupted and that didn't stop until after the opening puck drop..you couldn't hear the national anthem or the PA announcer going over the starting lineups...THAT is the best way to get the team pumped...the whole singing the anthem thing is worn out...even watching Vancouver do it on tv now is boring..it was great when it started..but when you see the Blackhawks games and how they are during the US anthem...now THAT is just craziness and that is what Winnipeg is known for...so spread THAT word!!

Personally I love the singing of the anthems, belting out the words to O' Canada so that you can hardly hear the singer....to me that shows where hockey belongs. Yelling other stuff during an anthem in my opinion is kind of disrespectful. Sing it loud and sing it proud, traditions take care of themselves, national pride should already have done so.

Another example is the Bombers when they get to "glorious and free" instead of free, the corner section goes BLUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. they do? Go Jets Go! i've been going for 6 full seasons and never noticed....

Very good idea! This is done in other arena's as well. I was at the Memorial Cup when it was in Kelowna 6 years ago.......and during the anthem they would chant the goalies name.....i had no idea what was going on the first time I saw the Rockets play. I thought I was at a religious ceremony for Catholics! Anyways this is an excellent thing to do.....and a wonderful idea. When the Kelowna Rockets used to be the Tacoma Rockets, we/the crowd would always shout "Rockets" (redglare, the bombs bursting in air), during our national anthem. This was always fun. It is even more fun when you have a big group during a road game. You guys definitely have my vote if you yell "True North" during your anthem.

Let's be the first team to do away with the tired "tradition" of playing the anthems... This won't be a popular opinion, I'm sure, but I'm on board. It seems pointless in this day and age of teams comprised of players from a multitude of countries.

How about just sing the anthem the way we are supposed too!? Trying to force traditions and be like other cities will look cheap! Traditions happen over time! Who's trying to force anything? A fan on a message board came up with an idea...it's not some corporate meme devloped by a marketing guy....
