I find the way this new negotiating process is going to be very confusing. Why would the NHL even entertain hulsizer before a lease is in place. And the only reason that I see hulsizer wanting to get the 100% sale price is so he can try and get a better deal with the cog and or the NHL.
I can't see bettman being happy that Scruggs and the cog is slowly putting the blame back on him and the NHL.
The other article saunders did with the sport district debt is a great read. The cog is spending more on paying interest than on paying down the principal on it's loans. Anyone who has a credit card knows this does not work. The city is way too deep in and Scruggs saying their is no plan 'b' is a scary thought.
Very scary situation down there but I hope hulsizer gets scared away from this investment by the asking price being firm at 175 mill plus glen dales loses.

Wow.....reviewing those archived articles sure brought back some horrible feelings, but when you put it all in perspective it is deja vu all over again. Only this time it will be a happy ending!!

This name crap is out of hand on here. Appreciate what you are about to be given. The jets left. Are you spending 170 million? did you build an arena? did you invest in the city like they are? they have the right to do whatever they want including make the franchise their own.

Well said.
Also, there's no point in whining about the name of a team that is still completely hypothetical.

Oh, I've invested a lot in this city. Not as much as TN maybe, but then again I didn't move my auto park and build the practice facility out of the city of Winnipeg. Although I'm not criticizing them for that...smart business move tax-wise. But what I just said is apparently true so I don't see why I can't express my opinion. But you can express yours too, no problem here. Hey, I've been on the bring back NHL bandwagon longer than TN has and I helped them build MTSC too. That doesn't give me any special rights, but nothing wrong with speaking the truth is there? I'm a big supporter of TN and what they're doing...just want them to consider the name thing, that's all.

But yeah, the parallels with Phoenix may be considered eerie. Big difference being the attitude of the fanbases.

The assiniboine downs and all the property for the Ice Plex is in the City of Winnipeg. It is strange since it is on the west side of the perimeter.
I have my property (50 acres) along the west side of the perimeter as well, yet south of the river but is in Headingly... then you go south of Wilkes and again the west side of the perimeter is City of Winnipeg.

This is awesome. The old fanbase is already starting to fight with each other !!! Love it. Reminds of the Tkachuk vs Selanne debates. Although I gotta admit I couldn't read more then the first sentence of the old articles either .... guess I'm still in the Anger stage with a couple others - still haven't been able to move on after all these years !!
BTW, I'm really impressed with the job you're doing John !!!

That autopark is paying city taxes? Well if that's true then I stand corrected, not that I was upset about that anyway. I bought my last car out there. But I thought that land went with the Headingly secession...

We just have a disagreement on whether or not they should unilaterally bury the name that's all. EDIT: I'm really impressed with the job Mr. White is doing too. Such a good feeling to have the media fully onside. There were many years I thought that would never happen until their report the day after the team took to the ice at MTSC. Yet I also understand why it took so long.

Yeah, I took a look at that development when it was going up. I was only looking at of curiosity during one day I was at the track, since I wasn't actually planning to move out there. What I didn't check was what the taxes are and who they're paid to, thinking that was all out of the City of Winnipeg, so it didn't really matter. I'm really glad to hear that though, because that outside the city thing kinda bothered me since that autopark went up outside the perimeter. (And I feel better now knowing I bought my car from a Winnipeg dealer, even though they were the only dealer around for what I bought) .
