Ok for those whoe don't like these subjects let's discuss it here.
As you may have read I'm not thrilled about the rumour of the colours being brown and white, nor am I liking the possible name of Falcons. These are both the worst possible combination of colours and name that I can think of.
Having said that maybe they will be awesome. I kind of give Chipman the benefit of the doubt seeing as he's a pretty smart guy.
Let's discuss, good or bad whatever you want.
Mods leave us alone!

i wish that the name of our future team be the Winnipeg jets but its looking less and less likely...
The manitoba falcons is a really cool name i think and i actaully think the brown and white will work very well... 2 colours makes a simpler and better jersey in my opinon
if the brown and white, and falcons rumours are true i am completely fine with it!
ever since i was 5 i wanted to go to a "Jets" game with my dad... guess i could live with going to a "falcons" game

Jets are gone no matter what they can't come back, I myself have coming to that conclusion. Lets go new and please not the moose! I'm open to new as well. I know if I owned the team it would absolutely be the Jets with a wicked new logo and possibly new colour scheme although I'm a huge blue fan. I would have gone with a darker blue and red with white for accents. I will support anything we get. I was just a little worried about brown but who knows it might be really cool.

Brown and White rumour....(depending on the shade of brown)... would be 100% improvement on anything RED/WHITE/BLUE...not to mention NHL unique.
The Moose "throwback jersey" colour scheme (Orangy/Brown or "burnt orange" with White and some Black trim) have always looked sharp in person and in pictures. Very unique...very Manitoba. TNSE would not be making a mistake going this direction.
If team is going to be called MANITOBA (and one can pretty much bet on this)...then JETS is the wrong name...and I trust it will never be Manitoba Jets...thank goodness for that.
Manitoba ________ with something similar to the "throwback" brown/white Moose colour scheme playing NHL hockey in 15000 seat MTSC in Oct 2011 would work extremely well.
Good job TNSE if this is the direction you are heading!

The more I think of Falcons, brown and white retro looking jersey's,maybe a 1911 Falcons throwback 3rd jersey, and especially the history behind it,the more I like it.I think it would really catch on fast with the fans of old and new.Atlanta or Phoenix this could be the way to go.

If Falcons is the name, I love it
If White & Brown are the colors, count me a fan
Sounds like a good direction for our new franchise.
All we need is a confirmation.

I'm going to give this a shot...
How about Manitoba Mustangs with the Brown and White colours.
Edit: My logo image doesn't seem to work, but it is a P-51 Mustang, so use your imagination.

Okay all of you 'Jets' name haters on this board, you have us convinced that the name won't be 'Winnipeg Jets'. Is it too much to ask that we at least get a name that people would like rather than something lame like 'Manitoba Bears' or boring colours like Brown and White. It's one thing to say you'll take anything just as long it's the NHL but don't we at least want to be proud of our team's name and want to have a good colour scheme? Why should we just settle for the bottom of the barrel for the team name and colours? At least the Moose have a nice logo and good colour scheme --- I could live with that if it can't be Winnipeg Jets. Is the team trying to save money by using a boring colour like Brown that no one else would want? Are they not going to have a logo? Maybe just an 'M' to save money? Geez, I really hope we can do better than that!

Naming the team "Manitoba Falcons" makes alot of sense, IMHO. When you consider the history behind the name, the fact that Falcons nest in downtown Winnipeg and even Falcon Lake, it's almost a no brainer! Check-out the wikipedia write-up on the 1920 team. Very cool! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnipeg_FalconsThere could even be a tie in with the Human Rights Museum when you consider that this group of Icelandic players formed because teams in Winnipeg didn't want them on their teams due to race. And one more thing! If (when ) we win the Stanley Cup they would be the only team to have won an Olympic Gold Medal, the Allen Cup and the Stanley Cup!

I'm still wanting the Jets BUT if it's going to be the Falcons, which I agree really ties into the history of hockey in Manitoba. The one thing I like about the old Falcon jerseys, is the red maple leaf with Canada across the front. That would be cool and it would maybe even open up more areas of Canada to be proud of and support the team. You can have a Falcon on the shoulders and Manitoba up there too. No offense to Quebec but it always bothered me that a province, with many that want to separate from Canada, has a team called the Canadians. Toronto has the Maple Leaf on their crest and Vancouver are called the Canucks. All bring that extra patronage feeling for many Canadians. Let's do it in Manitoba if it's not the Jets. I think that would be cool. www.winnipegfalcons.com/threejerseys.html

Naming the team "Manitoba Falcons" makes alot of sense, IMHO. I wouldn't mind Winnipeg Falcons but let's drop Manitoba. Some people are too hung up on using Manitoba because they think it will make everyone outside of Winnipeg feel that it is their team as well. Very few will cheer for them simply because they are called Manitoba instead of Winnipeg. Real hockey fans will like them regardless. I don't see the Toronto Raptors or Toronto Blue Jays feeling the need to call themselves Ontario instead of Toronto in order to make everyone in the rest of the province feel included in supporting the team. The Canucks manage to maintain a strong following throughout B.C. without calling the team B.C. Canucks. Winnipeg would be a better name as that is where the team will be based. Like others have also pointed out, we root for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL and don't have any objections about supporting them simply because they are not called the Manitoba Wheat Kings.

I like Winnipeg also but it sounds like they've already decided on Manitoba. Your point has been mentioned many times and most people don't disagree.

I couldn't agree more about the Wpg vs MB part of your point. I just don't see how the name Wpg vs MB will affect many peoples opinions, for the reasons you mentioned. As a caveat to that however, I still care more about the name Jets than I do Winnipeg. I personally think Winnipeg just sounds better with most names, although if it were say Manitoba Mustangs that sounds better than Winnipeg Mustangs, but if it was Warriors than obviously Winnipeg sounds better. Anywho, I still say Winnipeg Jets with a re-vamped logo, colour scheme, etc. Seems to me like that would satisfy the most people, as it's fresh and new yet still gives people their Jets to cheer for.

I like Winnipeg also but it sounds like they've already decided on Manitoba. It's not too late to change it to Winnipeg even if they had previously decided on Manitoba. I'm sure the other teams in the league would prefer Winnipeg as well.

If it's the Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg, I wouldn't mind the name Winnipeg Falcons and using the same colours as the Thrashers (except for the ugly powder blue jerseys). They have some pretty decent colours with the Navy blue, red, yellow and white. The only thing I would change would be to have stripes around the sleeves rather than a band down the arm. I never liked a band down the arm on any jersey (like what the Bruins did with their jerseys prior to the recent change). I really disliked it when the Manitoba Moose changed to their current look with a band down the sleeve --- their previous jerseys were way better and looked more major league.

Just my opinion... but I couldn't disagree more. 1) I would hate to to carry on the Thrashers legacy... 2) I think I actually dislike Falcons more so if we get Atlanta. There is still going to be an Atlanta Falcons... it somehow just seems weird. Again, I don't mean to blast you but I just don't agree at all on this (except for the arm stripes thing)
