Wow, Belanger is a tool.
He's never been here, but he hates the idea of coming here?
And yet his teammates want to go to Quebec City instead?
Yeah, no.

I think we will have to some of our own personel here. It would be great to get Arneil or Carlyle coaching here. And keep CH as GM. Didn't Phoenix make front office changes when they left Winnipeg? New owners will want there own staff.

I like the part about how "he talked to his teammates who played there before the team moved to Phoenix", you mean Doan? Doan was a pimple faced teenager! What would he know about what it's like now vs. what it was like then!

Tipett was just saying that currently, there IS an AHL team in Winnipeg and not an NHL team as far as he knows. Come on now read, digest and THEN COMMENT. Lawless makes this suggestion (wrongly) and you say Screw him, Come on Man. WTF??? It was a bash against Winnipeg. Can't you see that? Read his comment again. Tippet is suggesting that our city is a minor hockey league city and is saying to Bissonette to go ahead, play over there if you want to play in the minors. Wrong. Please re-read. You must have serious reading comprehension issues if you think Tippet was implying that haha.

Belanger's contract is up after this year. Let him walk... Don't worry, im sure he'll walk along with Doan, Jovo and Bryzgalov. The team may be a playoff team this yr, but when they come here next yr they will be a 13th-9th seed team

They might not make the playoffs this year either. Hooray for higher Draft Picks!!! Possibly. They got games in hand so I'd expect to see them around 7-5 seeds. Not to mention this yrs NHL draft is hurrendous and considered to be one of the worst in the last decade. Next yrs is the yr to tank for.

Everyone else has a game in hand on them.

Guess they might miss the playoffs this yr then too, although Id rather prefer them to tank next yr. Nail Yakupov in 2012. Dude is the next great thing. He is breaking Steven Stamkos OHL records as a 16 yr old. He along with Yandle would be the perfect franchise players

OK, I have to chime in here. I was born and raised a Winnipegger and crab about this city on many issues (but I am never moving away!). How does anyone expect a Player to automatically be thrilled at the prospect of moving to Winnipeg? Sure we defend it like mad because we live here...for someone who doesn't live here though it can look like Siberia..sorry had to say it. Only when they have lived here for a full year to see Manitoba in all it's Seasonal change glory do most come to appreciate and love the place. Let them get the whining out of their systems...by next Christmas Phoenix will be a distant memory to them all (well the ones who stick it out and not retire anyway- Doan?)

The team may be a playoff team this yr, but when they come here next yr they will be a 13th-9th seed team Do you think the NHL would gut the team leaving it barren (and thus obviously not a contender) their 1st season back in Wpg as a way to protest the fact they "had" to go back there and clearly didn't want to. Kind of as a way to say "We are going to make it that much harder for you to succeed" or "Now let's see you try and make the playoffs now." Maybe they encourage all these players to leave? Or more likely all these players will leave knowing they don't want to go to Winnipeg so it will be a de-facto protest. We'll probably see a purge one way or another right after FA begins.

right now the team is settling to the level where they belong. The real teams are starting to put a push on.

Doan has a NMC. COntract is voided when the team moves. Jovo is a UFA. DOubt he resigns there or here. Moot point. Byrzgalov is going to get a big pay day. Watch his infamous the Score interview, he hates the cold. He isnt resigning regardless of if the team moves. Doesnt sound like Belanger would wanna be here. thats how it is. Winnipeg is going to join EDM when it comes to free agency. WPG will have to vastly overpay to get quality free agents. Thats how its gonna be. I dont like it, but get used to it.

I don't think Tippett was meaning to bash Winnipeg. But I don't think Lawless is wrong to critisize him for saying anything at all. This issue is a powder keg, as this thread proves.
Best thing to do if you're employed by the Yotes right now is just shut up.

IF Yotes move to Winnipeg, the team players will be re-cycled pretty quickly (as fast as contracts allow them to) to have the type of player that CHipman wants.. I would not worry about current players on the Yotes... It will be about having a team that you can bring in whom you want..

Lawless makes this suggestion (wrongly) and you say Screw him, Come on Man. I think that we should give Tippett the benefit of the doubt, although I am sure that he's loving living in Phoenix, I know that I would, that doesn't mean that he won't love it here. Look where he was born and where he played his junior hockey. He is well acquainted with our area of the world. www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=5409So while he may love the fact that he's outta winter and can golf after practice, he might surprise us once the deal is done. How angry would we have been at Paddock if he was excited about moving somewhere else while we were trying to save the team. I believe that Tippet was saying in a very illustrative manner that these guys are professionals and they need to conduct themselves accordingly.
